33 Khawarij killed in Zhob as infiltration bid from Afghanistan foiled

Pakistani security forces killed 33 militants during a failed infiltration attempt at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Zhob, Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on August 8, 2025. These militants were linked to the group Fitna al-Khawarij, identified as an Indian-sponsored proxy.

According to the ISPR, security forces detected a large group of Khawarij moving near Sambaza in Zhob district late on the night of August 7-8. The troops engaged them promptly and prevented their entry into Pakistani territory. The operation resulted in the killing of 33 terrorists. Authorities also recovered a significant amount of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the site.

The ISPR added that security forces are carrying out a sanitization operation in the area to eliminate any remaining militants. The military reaffirmed its strong commitment to protecting Pakistan’s borders and eliminating terrorism sponsored by foreign elements.

This incident follows earlier operations in Balochistan, where Pakistani forces killed seven militants linked to “Fitna al-Hindustan” in Machh and Kalat areas in June 2025. These militants, also reported to be Indian-backed, were killed during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) aimed at securing the region.

The successful foiling of this infiltration bid highlights Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to maintain border security and combat terrorism in the region. The ISPR’s statement emphasized the resolve of Pakistani troops to defend national frontiers against external threats.
