FAISALABAD – July 18, 2025: Cybercrime officials have arrested former FESCO Chief Tahseen Awan in connection with a large-scale international online fraud case. Authorities allege that Awan worked closely with a Chinese gang to create fake companies and submit forged documents to various government bodies.
The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into cyber fraud involving foreign nationals. This is the eighth case registered against Tahseen Awan. He had already been granted interim bail in seven previous FIRs.
Investigators believe Awan provided false information about foreign nationals, including fake passports and identity records. These were allegedly used to mislead national institutions and create the illusion of legitimate businesses.
Authorities say several agreements were made under the names of non-existent companies. The cybercrime agency claims these actions posed a serious threat to national security.
A key finding in the investigation is the concealment of foreign nationals involved in the scheme. Out of 72 foreign individuals arrested earlier, the presence of 62 was reportedly hidden from authorities. Moreover, nine names in the official foreigner registry were discovered to be forged.
The investigation is being led by Assistant Director Arshad Ali. Tahseen Awan is expected to appear before a local court today. Officials plan to request his physical remand for further questioning.
Earlier this month, a major raid at Awan’s facility led to the arrest of over 150 people. The detainees included more than 70 foreign nationals, most of them Chinese. They were allegedly part of a scam call center operation.The case against Tahseen Awan Arrested has drawn significant public attention due to its scale and the involvement of international actors.
