Police Submit Preliminary Report Against K-Electric Officials on Electrocution Deaths

Police Report Filed in Karachi K-Electric Deaths Case

Police have submitted a preliminary report in court against K-Electric officials after the deaths of two brothers in Karachi. The tragic incident happened in Shah Faisal Colony during heavy rains on August 19.

The case was registered at Shah Faisal Colony Police Station on the complaint of a citizen named Sultan. The FIR mentions sections of negligence and criminal liability. Those named in the case include K-Electric CEO Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi and officials of the IBC Shah Faisal office.

The police report was presented before the Judicial Magistrate East at the City Court in Karachi. It outlines how 10-year-old Siraj lost his life when he stepped on an exposed underground high-tension cable while going out to buy groceries. His elder brother Murad, aged 20, rushed to save him but was also electrocuted.

Residents in the area managed to pull the brothers out of the water. Siraj died instantly at the scene. Murad was still alive but could not be taken to the hospital in time. Heavy rainfall, waterlogging, and traffic jams delayed efforts to save him. He later passed away from his injuries.

The incident has once again raised questions over the safety of power infrastructure in Karachi during the monsoon season. Similar cases of electrocution have been reported in the past, with residents blaming poor maintenance and negligence. Authorities have now sought a detailed investigation into the matter.

The preliminary findings suggest that responsibility lies with officials who failed to ensure safe installation and proper maintenance of high-tension wires. Further proceedings will decide the next steps against those held accountable.

The case has sparked public debate about corporate accountability and the safety of citizens during seasonal rains. For now, the families of Siraj and Murad continue to demand justice as the investigation into the K-Electric electrocution deaths moves forward.
