Arshad Nadeem Ruled Out of Diamond League 2025 Due to Injury Setback

Arshad Nadeem Out of Diamond League 2025

Pakistan’s Olympic hero, Arshad Nadeem, has been officially ruled out of the upcoming Diamond League 2025 due to fitness issues. This development comes as a significant setback for the athlete, who recently brought glory to the nation by winning gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

According to sources close to the athlete, Arshad’s medical team has recommended that he skip the high-profile Diamond League to focus entirely on his recovery. The decision was made after a careful medical assessment of his condition.

Nadeem, who is currently in rehabilitation in England, recently began light movement exercises and started putting weight on his injured leg. His doctors have termed the progress “gradual but encouraging.”

Dr. Ali Sher Bajwa, a leading medical expert overseeing his treatment, shared that the injury is both recent and severe. He emphasized the need for consistent and controlled therapy to avoid long-term complications.

To address the injury, Arshad underwent calf muscle surgery in Cambridge. The surgery was necessary to fix the problem and reduce the risk of future damage.

His participation in upcoming events, including the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, remains uncertain and will depend on how well his rehabilitation progresses.

The final decision about his return to competitive action will be taken only after a detailed medical evaluation, ensuring that he does not rush back and risk further injury.

One of the most anticipated moments in the Diamond League was the javelin showdown between Arshad Nadeem and India’s Neeraj Chopra. With Nadeem out of the competition, fans will have to wait longer to see the two Olympic champions go head-to-head.

Speaking about the development, Arshad’s manager said, “He is focusing entirely on recovery for now. His goal is to be ready for the World Championships in Tokyo. That’s why he opted for surgery. It’s very unlikely that he and Neeraj Chopra will meet in any event before then.”

Arshad Nadeem became a national icon after winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. His javelin throw of 92.97 meters made history, as he became the first-ever Pakistani athlete to win an individual gold medal at the Olympics.

This win also ended Pakistan’s 32-year Olympic medal drought. Before Arshad’s victory, the country last won a medal in 1992, when the national hockey team secured bronze at the Barcelona Olympics.

Pakistan’s recent successes extend beyond the political front, with the national cricket team also delivering a strong performance. The Men in Green clinched the T20I series against the West Indies with a thrilling 13-run win. Pakistan Seals T20I Series Win
