Blood Moon Eclipse to Dazzle Pakistan on Sept 7

ISLAMABAD: Skywatchers in Pakistan are set to witness a rare celestial sight as a total lunar eclipse, also known as a Blood Moon, will appear in the night sky between September 7 and 8.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) confirmed that this will be the first blood moon eclipse of the year. The phenomenon occurs when the Earth moves directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow that gives the Moon a deep red color.

According to the PMD, the eclipse will begin with the penumbral phase at 8:28 PM on September 7. The partial eclipse will follow at 9:27 PM. The event will reach its peak at 11:12 PM, when the Moon will take on its brightest red glow. The partial phase will end at 12:57 AM on September 8, and the entire eclipse will conclude at 1:55 AM. The total duration of the spectacle will be about five hours and 27 minutes.

The Blood Moon eclipse Pakistan will not only be visible locally but also across several regions worldwide. Astronomers note that people in Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, and the Pacific will have clear views. Neighboring countries such as India, Bangladesh, China, Japan, and Saudi Arabia are also expected to witness the full event. In addition, parts of western North America and eastern South America will experience at least some phases of the eclipse.

Experts highlight that this will be the only total lunar eclipse visible from Pakistan in 2025, making it a notable event for stargazers and astronomy enthusiasts. With favorable weather conditions, millions of people are expected to enjoy this rare natural display.

Astronomers recommend watching the eclipse from open spaces away from city lights for the best view. No special equipment is needed, but binoculars and telescopes can enhance the experience.
