Field Marshal Visits Punjab, Vows Kartarpur Revival

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, visited flood-affected districts of Punjab on Thursday. His trip covered Sialkot Sector, Shakargarh, Narowal, and Kartarpur, where he reviewed rescue and relief operations.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), he was briefed on the current situation and preparations for upcoming rains. The army chief praised troops and civil authorities for their efforts in evacuating families and providing emergency aid.

During his visit, Field Marshal Munir also met members of the Sikh community. He assured them that all religious sites damaged in the floods, including the historic Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, would be restored on priority. He emphasized that it is the duty of the state to protect minorities and preserve their places of worship.

The Sikh community expressed gratitude for the army’s assistance. Many welcomed the military chief warmly and thanked both the army and civil administration for their role in rescue operations.

An aerial survey of the Darbar Sahib Kartarpur was also conducted. The shrine, which holds deep religious importance for Sikhs worldwide, was submerged after the Ravi River overflowed.

While interacting with soldiers, Field Marshal Munir commended their high morale and dedication despite harsh conditions. He noted that their service during the crisis highlighted both professionalism and compassion for the affected people.

Upon arrival in Punjab, the army chief was received by the Corps Commander Gujranwala. He also met with local officials and praised their proactive measures that helped limit the loss of life and property.
