ISLAMABAD — Internet services in Pakistan have been restored after a major disruption caused by heavy rainfall on Tuesday evening. The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) confirmed that services are now fully operational nationwide.
According to the PTCL spokesperson, the issue began after severe weather hit major cities, leading to network instability and service outages. Areas such as Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Peshawar were among the worst affected.
Many users reported slow browsing speeds, connection drops, and complete outages. This affected both individuals and businesses who depend on online services for work, communication, and education. Online workers and business professionals expressed concern over the loss of access to essential platforms during the disruption.
The IT and Telecom Minister, Shaza Fatima, acknowledged the issue. She stated that technical teams were investigating the root cause and would inform the public as soon as further details were available. “We are working to ensure such disruptions are minimized in the future,” she added.
The incident has raised questions about the resilience of Pakistan’s IT infrastructure, especially as a growing number of people rely on digital connectivity for remote work and e-commerce.
The restoration of internet services has brought relief to users across the country. Authorities have assured the public that measures are being taken to strengthen systems against future weather-related issues.
The PTCL has urged users to report any ongoing problems and stay updated through official communication channels.
