K-Electric Issues Safety Advisory Rainy Weather in Karachi

Heavy rainfall lashed several areas of Karachi on Tuesday morning, turning overnight showers into intense downpours. Localities including Tariq Road, North Nazimabad, Clifton, Defence, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Malir, and Korangi witnessed heavy rain, while thunderstorms were also reported in some parts of the city.

The downpour brought temporary relief from humid conditions but also raised concerns about urban flooding and electricity hazards. Waterlogging was reported in low-lying neighborhoods, making daily travel difficult for residents.

In response, K-Electric issues safety advisory rainy weather in Karachi to alert citizens about potential risks. The power utility urged people to avoid the use of electrical appliances like water pumps in standing water. Unsafe usage, according to officials, could result in electrocution or other accidents.

A spokesperson from K-Electric further advised residents to stay away from damaged wires, internet cables, and electrical installations during rain. The spokesperson also warned against the use of illegal connections, known as “kundas,” stressing that such practices can lead to fatal incidents in wet conditions.

To reduce risks, K-Electric stated that it may temporarily suspend power supply in waterlogged areas. Field staff has been placed on high alert to handle emergencies and restore services quickly when needed. The company assured citizens that it is actively monitoring the citywide situation.

Meanwhile, heavy showers disrupted routine life across Karachi. Areas such as Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Surjani Town, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Federal B Area, and Malir Cantt also received continuous rainfall. Commuters faced traffic jams on major roads, while residents reported difficulties in reaching workplaces and schools.

Authorities have urged the public to take necessary precautions and limit outdoor movement where possible. With more rain expected, safety remains a key concern for the city.
