KARACHI – A local court has handed a 50-year prison sentence to a man convicted of raping and abducting a 15-year-old girl. The ruling also includes a fine of Rs 1.65 million.
Additional District and Sessions Judge (East) Naseer Noor Khan announced the verdict against Shahbaz alias Shabi on Friday.
According to court proceedings, the incident took place in June 2021. The victim had left home to purchase household items when Shahbaz approached her, claiming her father was under attack.
Investigators said the accused drugged the girl en route, rendering her unconscious, before taking her with two accomplices to an undisclosed location. She was sexually assaulted and later threatened with the release of compromising videos unless her family complied with demands.
The victim’s father filed a case at Brigade Police Station. The prosecution presented evidence that led to the conviction.
In a separate case on July 30, 2025, police arrested Muhammad Huzaif for the rape and murder of a 16-year-old girl in Khokhrapar. The crime, committed on July 11, involved severe violence. A DNA match linked Huzaif to the scene. He later confessed and was remanded to jail following court proceedings.
Both cases have drawn attention to crimes against minors in Karachi, prompting calls for stronger protection measures and swift justice.
