Pakistan will meet West Indies in the third and final One Day International (ODI) of the series today at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba. The match will start at 6:30 pm Pakistan Standard Time.
The three-match series is level at 1-1. Pakistan won the opening match, while West Indies claimed victory in the second rain-affected ODI on Sunday.
In the second match, West Indies defeated Pakistan by five wickets with 10 balls to spare. The hosts were set a revised target of 181 runs in 35 overs under the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method, after rain interruptions reduced Pakistan’s innings to 171-7 in 37 overs.
Roston Chase scored an unbeaten 49 off 47 balls, hitting two sixes and the winning boundary. He shared a 77-run partnership with Justin Greaves, who made 26 off 31 deliveries.
Sherfane Rutherford added quick runs with a 33-ball 45, including three sixes and four fours, before falling with the score at 111-5. West Indies had earlier been 101-3 in 18 overs before losing two quick wickets.
Right-arm pacer Jayden Seales led the West Indies bowling attack with 3-23 in seven overs. Spinner Gudakesh Motie dismissed Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan for 16 off 38 balls.
For Pakistan, Hasan Nawaz remained not out on 36 from 30 balls, hitting three sixes, two of them in the last over before rain stopped play. Hussain Talat contributed 31 runs off 32 deliveries.
Today’s fixture will decide the series. Both teams are expected to make strong selections to secure victory. Weather forecasts suggest possible rain, which may again affect play.
Rizwan pointed out the main reason for Pakistan’s ODI defeat.
