Petrol Price Jumps by Rs5.36 in Fortnightly Revision

The federal government has announced a fresh increase in petrol and diesel prices for the next two weeks.

According to a notification from the Ministry of Finance, the petrol price in Pakistan today increased by Rs5.36 per litre. High-speed diesel (HSD) has also seen a significant hike of Rs11.37 per litre.

After the new adjustment, today petrol price in Pakistan stands at Rs272.15 per litre. The revised price for diesel is now Rs284.35 per litre.

The price change came into effect from July 16, 2025. These rates will remain valid until the end of the current fortnight.

Officials say the decision was made in line with rising international oil prices and currency fluctuations. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) sends price recommendations based on these global and local market conditions.

The revision also impacts the PSO petrol price in Pakistan today, as Pakistan State Oil (PSO) aligns its retail prices with government notifications.

Fuel prices in Pakistan are revised every 15 days. The goal is to adjust local prices according to international trends and ensure smooth supply across the country.

This price hike is expected to add pressure on transportation and goods costs. Public response to the increase has been mixed, with some citizens expressing concern over its impact on daily expenses.

Meanwhile, government sources say efforts are ongoing to manage inflation and maintain fuel availability despite external challenges.
