Connie Francis, the legendary American singer best known for the hit song Pretty Little Baby, has passed away at the age of 87.
The news of her death was confirmed by longtime friend Ron Roberts on Facebook. In an emotional post shared Thursday, Roberts wrote, “It is with a heavy heart and extreme sadness that I inform you of the passing of my dear friend Connie Francis last night.” He added that more details would be released later.
Francis had been facing health issues and was recently hospitalized. On July 2, she shared a message with fans on social media, explaining that she had been undergoing medical tests due to “extreme pain.” She also mentioned canceling a scheduled appearance for an Independence Day show, expressing regret and appreciation for the support she received from fans.
Despite her health struggles, Connie Francis had found renewed fame in recent months. Her 1962 track Pretty Little Baby unexpectedly went viral on TikTok, decades after its original release.
In an interview with People Magazine, she admitted she had forgotten about the song and was amazed by its revival. “To think that a song I recorded 63 years ago is touching the hearts of millions of people is truly awesome,” she said.
Francis made history in the 1960s by becoming the first female artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Over the years, she delivered a number of timeless hits, including Who’s Sorry Now?, which helped define her career.
The cause of her death has not been publicly disclosed, although her recent hospitalization and long-standing health concerns may be connected. Many fans have also raised questions like “what disease does Connie Francis have?”, but no official diagnosis has been shared by her family.
Connie Francis is survived by her son. Her voice and music will remain part of pop culture for generations to come.
