Authorities Monitor Rawal Dam as Water Level Increases

Rawal Dam Level Rises During Islamabad Rain

Islamabad is currently experiencing continuous rainfall, which has raised the water level in Rawal Dam to near its maximum capacity. The district administration is closely monitoring the situation to ensure public safety.

According to officials, Rawal Dam’s full capacity is 1,752 feet. Due to ongoing rainfall, the current water level has reached 1,747 feet. This leaves only a small margin before the dam reaches its limit, raising concerns about possible overflow.

In response, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has increased surveillance of the dam. Teams are checking water levels regularly and coordinating with relevant departments to manage any emergency situation.

Officials are also monitoring the catchment areas that supply water to the dam. If rainfall continues, these areas could cause further increases in water levels. The administration is ready to take quick action if needed.

Meanwhile, the heavy rainfall has affected other parts of the city as well. Water has accumulated in several low-lying areas, disrupting daily life. Sanitation workers are on high alert to manage drainage and prevent urban flooding.

Authorities have asked residents, especially those living near streams and nullahs, to stay alert. Rising water flow in these areas could pose a risk of flash flooding if the rains continue.

The situation remains under control for now, but officials are not taking any chances. Emergency teams are on standby, and regular updates are being issued to keep the public informed.

Rawal Dam is a vital source of water for the federal capital. Ensuring its safety and proper functioning is a top priority for the administration, especially during the monsoon season.

People are advised to follow weather updates and take safety measures if they live in areas prone to flooding. The administration continues to monitor the rainfall closely and will take immediate action if the situation worsens.

For now, Islamabad remains on alert as rains persist and Rawal Dam nears full capacity.
