Rohit Sharma Surpasses Babar Azam in ICC ODI Rankings

In the latest ICC ODI rankings, India’s captain Rohit Sharma has moved up to the second position, overtaking Pakistan’s top-order batter Babar Azam. Babar slipped to third after a disappointing performance in the recent ODI series against the West Indies.

Babar scored only 56 runs across three matches, averaging 18.66. This performance caused his rating points to drop to 751. In contrast, Rohit Sharma retained his points and consistent form, helping him surpass Babar in the rankings.

Other Pakistani players also faced declines. ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan dropped from 21st to 22nd with 602 points. Opening batter Fakhar Zaman, who missed the West Indies series due to injury, fell four places to 27th with 590 points. Imam-ul-Haq and Agha Salman slipped to 37th and 41st, while Saim Ayub saw the largest drop, falling nine places to 46th. Abdullah Shafique was the only Pakistani batter to improve, climbing seven spots to reach 90th with 428 points.

In bowling rankings, Shaheen Afridi dropped one place to 13th with 599 points after taking just four wickets in three games. Haris Rauf fell three places to 27th, and Naseem Shah moved down to 43rd. Spinner Abrar Ahmed climbed three spots to 54th, Mohammad Nawaz stayed at 64th, while Mohammad Wasim Jr dropped to 71st.

Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana continues to hold the top spot as the world’s number one ODI bowler. India’s Kuldeep Yadav follows in second, and South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj ranks third.

This reshuffle in the ICC ODI rankings highlights the impact of recent performances and injuries on player positions. Fans around the world are closely watching these changes as teams prepare for upcoming series.
