ATC Sends PTI Founder’s Nephew Shershah on Judicial Remand in Jinnah House Case

Shershah Judicial Remand in Jinnah House Attack Case

LAHORE: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Wednesday sent Shershah Khan, nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, to jail on judicial remand. The case relates to the attack on Jinnah House during the May 9, 2023 protests.

The court rejected the prosecution’s request for physical remand. Shershah, son of Aleema Khan, was ordered to remain in judicial custody. Further hearings in the case are expected in the coming days.

Authorities said Shershah was arrested for his alleged involvement in the violent incidents. The FIR notes he took part in setting police vans on fire, attacking security personnel, and damaging state property. Video evidence and geo-fencing data reportedly confirmed his presence at the crime scene.

Earlier, two nephews of Imran Khan, Shershah and Shahrez Khan, were named in FIRs linked to the May 9 riots. Both are sons of Aleema Khan. Shahrez was arrested on August 21, 2025, while Shershah returned from London and was arrested on August 22, 2025. Shershah had been hiding abroad for nearly two years and allegedly ran anti-state campaigns online.

Both men face charges including inciting violence, arson, vandalism, and assault on police officials. Authorities requested a 30-day physical remand for further investigation and polygraph testing, but the court denied it.

Security officials emphasized that the arrests show no one is above the law. They stated, “May 9 was an act of treason, and all those involved will face justice under the law.”

The decision to place Shershah on judicial remand highlights the ongoing legal proceedings against individuals involved in the 2023 unrest and reinforces the state’s stance on maintaining law and order.
