US President Donald Trump is set to host a major meeting on Wednesday to discuss post-war plans for Gaza. This was confirmed by his envoy, Steve Witkoff, during a Fox News interview on Tuesday.
Witkoff said the White House gathering would be “very comprehensive,” aiming to outline plans for the period following the recent conflict in Gaza. He did not provide additional details about the meeting.
The conflict in Gaza began in October 2023, when Hamas launched an attack on Israel. The war has caused significant casualties, with at least 1,219 Israelis killed, mostly civilians. According to Gaza’s health ministry, 62,819 Palestinians have died, most of them civilians, figures that the United Nations considers reliable.
Earlier this year, Trump sparked global debate by suggesting that the United States could take control of Gaza, remove its two million residents, and redevelop the area. He described plans to clear rubble, remove unexploded bombs, and turn Gaza into the “Riviera of the Middle East.”
Trump’s proposal received praise from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but faced criticism from several European and Arab countries.
Witkoff said the upcoming meeting would reveal how robust and well-intentioned the plan is.
The focus of the Trump Gaza meeting is expected to include reconstruction strategies, humanitarian aid, and long-term development projects. Trump has reportedly invited Netanyahu to participate, signaling potential international collaboration on Gaza’s post-war future.
This meeting is part of Trump’s broader post-presidency efforts to influence global policy. It has drawn attention from international media and policymakers, highlighting the ongoing importance of the Gaza situation and its regional impact.
The upcoming discussions are expected to shape the international response to Gaza’s recovery, providing a framework for rebuilding and stabilization after months of conflict.
