Youm-e-Istehsal Observed Across Pakistan to Condemn India

Youm-e-Istehsal is being observed across Pakistan today to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and to condemn India’s illegal actions of August 5, 2019.

On this day in 2019, the Indian government unilaterally revoked Article 370 of its constitution, ending the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan, Kashmiris, and international human rights organizations have widely condemned the move.

To mark the sixth anniversary of the action, special events and activities are being held throughout the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. One-minute silence was observed nationwide at 10:00 AM in remembrance of the Kashmiris who have lost their lives under Indian occupation.

A rally was organized in Islamabad, starting from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ending at D-Chowk. The event was attended by government officials, diplomats, civil society members, and people from different walks of life.

Special walks, seminars, and photo exhibitions are also being held in Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar, Muzaffarabad, and other cities. The purpose of these events is to highlight the ongoing human rights violations in IIOJK and to demand the restoration of Kashmir’s special status.

Pakistani missions abroad have arranged similar events, including webinars and public gatherings. These activities aim to raise international awareness and urge the global community to take notice of the situation in the region.

The state and private media channels are broadcasting documentaries, interviews, and panel discussions to shed light on the history of the Kashmir dispute and the current situation under Indian rule.

In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff, along with the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of Naval Staff, and Chief of Air Staff, reaffirmed the armed forces’ support for the people of IIOJK.

According to the ISPR, the Pakistan Armed Forces “stand firmly with the brave and resilient Kashmiri people in their just struggle for the right to self-determination.”

Youm-e-Istehsal is observed annually to remind the world of the ongoing occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and to reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiri cause per the United Nations Security Council resolutions.
